“The ministry is willing to work with the IMF EAST AFRITAC”

The ministry of Revenues has discussed with the IMF East Africa Regional Technical Assistance Center.
On the occasion, Mr. Fikadu Taddese, Head of the Minister's office, highlighted that the ministry in responsibility of leading the revenue sector is engaged in several activities. Among those the use of various technologies is the prime one, aimed to provide an advanced service to the customer.
To accomplish, this vision the role of partnerships like IMF EAST AFRITAC will take a great role and the ministry is willing to work with it according to the Head of the Minister's office.
Mr. Ousman Mohammed Director of Strategic Partnerships, at the Ministry on his side, said that the Ministry of Revenues is working with different international organizations like the European Union, TBI, BMGF…. etc.
IMF EAST AFRITAC is one of the giant international organizations that have extensive experience in various sectors, thus cooperating with such an organization should provide more opportunities for the ministry he noted.
On their part, IMF EAST AFRITAC representatives stated that the organization's primary goal is to provide technical help and capacity building to the ministry, and requested the ministry's support.

The Minister of Revenues H.E Ms. Aynalem Nigussie has received the World Bank director for Ethiopia, Eritrea, South Sudan, Sudan, Eastern and Southern Africa region Ms. Maryam Salhim at her office.
The main aim of the visit is to discuss the issues of mission for development policy operation and tax policy reform.
The minister of Revenues H.E Ms. Aynalem Nigussie highlighted that the government of Ethiopia is performing various initiatives to boost the revenues sector. Among those initiatives tax digitalization is the most prominent. The main aim of the initiative is to create to boost domestic revenues as her.
Ms. Maryam Salhim (director for Ethiopia, Eritrea, South Sudan, Sudan, Eastern and Southern Africa region) on her side said that Ethiopia is one of the countries that supported by the World Bank. The initiatives executed by the Ethiopian government will have a substantial impact on enhancing domestic revenues.

World Bank tax reforms in support of the Development Policy Operation (DPO) Consultants Visit Ministry of Revenues Branch offices.
Mr. Osman Mohamed, Director of Strategic Partnerships at the Ministry of Revenue (MoR), led a World Bank Delegates Mr David Norman and Hafiz Choudhury on a visit to the Large Taxpayers and the Southwest Addis Ababa Small Taxpayers Branch.
During the visit, branch managers and their teams provided a comprehensive overview of their respective tax operations. The discussions focused on key areas such as auditing processes, risk management, and the practice of tax administration.
Mr. Osman Mohamed emphasized the significance of the engagement, noting that gaining a deeper understanding of branch operations is crucial for strengthening the tax operational framework and aligning with international best practices.
A Development Policy Operation (DPO) is a form of financial support provided by the World Bank or other international financial institutions to help a country implement key policy reforms. These reforms are aimed at fostering long-term economic growth and development.
The ultimate goal of DPOs is to assist countries in strengthening their institutional frameworks and improving the quality of public services, which supports overall economic development.
